On January 17th, there was so much going on that I couldn’t find the time to watch Paatal Lok Season 2. But now that I’ve finally seen it, let’s dive into it!

The series has 8 episodes, each running about 40-45 minutes. If you’re planning to binge-watch, it’ll take roughly 5-6 hours. Now the big question: is it worth your time? Well, honestly, that depends on your personal taste and what kind of shows you enjoy.
In 2020, many of us were at home with nothing to do because everything shut down on account of COVID. I know exactly what feeling you’re talking about – everything was negative – and binging through the first season will remind you that: We’re coming off powerful content, which we demand from our favorite TV series. Such people in the world stick around; if you know the feeling of finding the room empty like I do, that image may be distressing as there will be no entertainment to accompany.
Now, look, there were several reasons why Paatal Lok Season 1 became famous. Like the raw and rustic language used, which is similar to what we often use among friends or in close circles. Plus, some of its brutal scenes became quite famous, especially the character of Hathoda Tyagi and the brutal murders he committed. And yes, Hathiram Chaudhary, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, had a huge role in making this series famous.
But will we get to see something similar in Paatal Lok Season 2? See, Season 1 doesn’t really have much to do with Season 2 in terms of story. The case in the first season was different, and this season has a different case. So story-wise, there’s no continuity. Hence, watching Season 1 isn’t necessarily important. But you do need to know a few characters, like Hathiram Chaudhary and his family, and then Imran Ansari and his bonding with Hathiram Chaudhary. Once you know this, it’s enough. And in the first episode itself, there’s a one- to one-and-a-half-minute recap that connects you with the characters.
Story of Paatal Lok Season 2:
Now, talking about the story of Paatal Lok Season 2, if you judge it as a fresh story without comparing it to Season 1, this time Hathiram Chaudhary and Imran Ansari have a new case. A prominent leader from Nagaland is murdered in Delhi, and now they go to Nagaland for the investigation. While investigating, many shocking truths are revealed, which keep you engaged in every episode.
The story was moving smoothly till the third episode, waiting for the fourth now to keep the character developing with equally smooth, continuous flow of the tale. Imran Ansari, who was junior to Hathiram Chaudhary, is now his senior. But their bond, as seen in the first season, has now deepened, which is quite comforting to watch. Hathiram’s professional and personal life is always in turmoil, but the way Ansari stands by him at every step gives Hathiram some relief now and then.
And hats off to Jaideep Ahlawat! He has portrayed the character of Hathiram so beautifully that perhaps, in the future, he will be recognized for this role.

So, overall, considering everyone’s performances, the storyline, and its presentation, I would give this series 3.5 out of 5 stars. This time, there aren’t any vulgar scenes in the series. There are some abuses, but they’re moderate. There’s a bit of brutality—like in the first episode, there’s a scene where a head is chopped off—but after that, I didn’t notice any major brutal scenes.
Dark themes are portrayed in the series, so it’s better for kids to stay away from it. But adults can enjoy it comfortably. Now, what’s your opinion about the series? Let me know. See you in the next post. Bye!
